Suggested Books

Teaching through stories ...Story as a vehicle was an impetus for me to look for more stories and ways to use them in class.

I really enjoy Charlie and Lola. Many aspects of childern's behaviour can be found in these books.Children can easily identify with the heroes.

Gruffalo. It gives many chances for role playing.

The elves and the shoemaker.I am currently working on a lesson plan for ESL based on this story.

Some very interesting videos are included in www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/shows/topsy-and-tim.There are very nice dialogues, although they could be a bit difficult for ESL students, they are highly motivating.I really enjoy the setting,a real-life family...sometimes so good to be true. However, videos engage children by the warm atmosphere they create. What is more, the storytime app is useful for parents as well, not only for teachers!

  1. You have some really interesting ideas for teaching young learners. I'd like you to visit our village primary school and share some of these with our Early Years teacher.
